Run for Breakfast

I had a real breakfast crisis on my hands this morning:

Empty banana hammock.

Empty Banana Hammock

No milk.

No Milk

Well, I guess that’s not exactly true. There was rice milk that Ava drinks… but umm, in a word – no.

Surely I jest – of course this is far from a real breakfast crisis. But I realized I could remedy this situation with a well planned run this morning.

I took the last couple of bucks out of my wallet, stuffed them into my sports bra and planned my route so I would run about 3 and a half miles and end up at the my little neighborhood grocery store before the final half mile trek home.

Over Run Oats

Thanks to some warm air and the fact that it’s Saturday and no one is rushing off to work at 8 AM, I got to head out for my run well after the sun was up this morning. Some where around the 9 o’clock hour I hit the pavement and had a glorious 54 minutes and 6.25 miles to all myself. Well, good old Jillian was with me too, but she doesn’t count.

Before I left I put together some pumpkin overnight oats knowing they’d be ready to eat by the time I got back. Given I put them together this morning, I guess I should technically call these Over Run Pumpkin Pie Oats.

Well why don’t you just make yourself at home Hissy?

Making Herself At Home

Hissy has in fact made herself at home, I happened upon her last night in the bathroom hanging out on the sink.

Hissy Brush Teeth

A little snake charming last night, a little charming pre-run snack this morning.

Why Do Dates Always Look Creepy?

Why do dates look so creepy when you cut into them? And then to top it all off – it coughs up this gigantic bug-like pit! This is a cruel joke of nature if you ask me. Here! Eat this thing that looks disgusting but tastes unbelievable! Try it – it’s good, I promise! Just don’t look at it.

My body alarm was apparently set for 6:00 this morning, because that’s the exact minute my eyes popped open with no alarm to be heard.

I debated going to the gym first thing (Door #1) or waiting until the sun came up and going for a run outside (Door #2). After going to the gym on Monday and was reminded of how great it feels to get there early and get my work out in first thing, so I opted for what was behind Door #1.

Pineapple, I have someone I’d like you meet. This is my new friend, Breville.

Pineapple, Meet Juicer

Now that my mom has gotten into juicing she’s become my juice muse. She’s turning me on to all sorts of juice books and has inspired me to think outside the romaine bag.

I bought a pineapple a few days ago with intent to ring it out in the juicer. Today was the day my conifer seed shaped fruit had a juice date with some carrots, an apple and ginger.

A typical Friday morning, a typical Friday morning run. I considered waiting to run until this afternoon since the girls will be off with Aunt Ellen for the day, but the blasted weather man is calling for rain so I went out early to beat feet to beat the rain drops.

Today when I was cruising along to a playlist instead of a podcast or audio book, I remembered something Brendan Brazier talks about in Thrive.

It is wet and miserable out this morning. I had planned to go to the gym but I got wrapped up in something I was working on and before I knew it my time to exercise was fading fast. I knew it would be quicker to just run outside here, but the cold and wind and rain made it less than appealing. I sucked it up, put on my running tights and my rain coat and headed out for a 4 mile run.

You know how they say that making plans to work out with someone is a great way to make you sure you go? That was definitely the case for me this morning. I had my alarm set for 5:15 to meet my running buddy Shawn at the gym and run on the indoor track at 6:00. I turned my alarm off and laid back down for just a second and the next thing I know my cell phone is ringing downstairs, it’s 5:45 and I’m stumbling around in the dark rubbing sleep out of my eyes and jamming my toe on the suitcase that I’ve yet to put away.

Momcation Sunday

Up and at’em at 6:30 this morning, I got up to hit the huge hotel gym first thing.

Hotel Gym

(I made those people sign release waivers to be in the blog. Not.)

Look! I got to do a track work out this morning!

Track Work Out!

The fitness center I use in the winter is this small, decrepit hole of a gym. It’s very close to home and it meets my needs so I don’t really care, but when I get to use these state of the art treadmills it feels like such a treat!

Road Trip

Glad you all liked my little sandwich eating GIF last night! I used Animation Shop 3 to string the photos together and create an animated GIF.

So today I’m leaving on a little mother-daughter road trip, except this time I get to be the daughter on this trip instead of the mother.

Heading to Toronto for one night for a blogger meet up tomorrow afternoon! Considering I’m the only one here with a valid passport the fam has to stay home. Originally it was going to be just a day trip by myself on Sunday, but then I thought it could be a great excuse to get away for a little momcation. The last time my mom and I went on a trip together just the two of us was oh… 1993? We’re both looking forward to a little girly excursion sans men and children.
