Tomorrow We Run With Zombies

October 21st, 2011 | Posted by Alison Spath in Dinner Time - (5 Comments)

In preparation for running from zombies tomorrow, we hit up the only logical place for dinner tonight.

Actually, in preparation for running from zombies tomorrow, first I dropped the girls off with Aunt Ellen, then I picked up The Man and we hit the bar.

The veggie bar at Wegmans. If I hope to ditch any zombies tomorrow, greens tonight are a must!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in town. No place else can I load my plate up with greens and then pile on a ton of fun stuff.

Say What You Mean

Within the last year or so here, the Mexican restaurant Chipotle has made its way onto our landscape.  I do enjoy going to Chipotle and it’s one of the few chain restaurants I patronize.

Of course when I say “patronize”, I mean – to frequent as a customer – not that I treat Chipotle condescendingly or anything.

Oh and when I say “frequent”, this would mean on the occasion when there are no picky children in tow. And as the case may be, this means I get there once a month if I’m lucky.

Sorta a Title

OK, I promise to stop starting all my posts with a picture of my left hand.

Right after this one.

Carrot Finger

Now, I won’t show you what’s under that bandage, but let’s just say this carrot sorta reminds me of something that I can’t quite put my finger on.

You know, if I had some raw hamburger to stuff into that crack there I bet then I could finger figure it out.

So how on earth a little finger infection and minor surgery can throw life into such upheaval for a couple of days is beyond me. But then I look at that carrot again and think about all the nerve endings in my finger suddenly I’m reminded why.

Girls Night Out

December 29th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Late Night Craziness - (23 Comments)

Tonight I had a welcome distraction and was able to escape for a few hours from the boxes and unpacking and kids-going-stir-crazy madness. With a girlfriend in from out of town for the holidays, my three best girls and I left men and children behind and to head out and paint the town red. Or something. Really we just went out to eat but that doesn’t sound nearly as exciting.

Like a School Girl

I have to be honest. For the last week or so I feel like I’ve been walking around with my head in the clouds. I barely recognize myself or my life right now. I’m so distracted it’s almost like I’ve got an innocent little crush. Moving to the new house seems more real now that we’ve been spending more time there. As our official Moving Day draws closer I find myself daydreaming and thinking about the new house more and more.

Didn’t I just write a post this morning about living in the moment? Hypocrisy thy name is Alison.

Closing Time

It’s done! We officially bought our new house today!

We're Home!

Yes I’m wearing my favorite pink hat inside – the thermostat is set to 58 until we move in YO!

Zak worked from home this morning and we left for the bank while Aunt Ellen graciously agreed to take our children off our hands for the day. We left early to sign on the dotted line about 30 times each and then went straight from the bank to the new house to drop off boxes and soak in that new old house smell.

High Hopes

I had high hopes today.

High hopes that the Garmin 405 would be available to borrow at my local running store from their electronic lending library.

Beat Up 405

Score! After reading Shari’s post yesterday on gadgets I had Garmin envy and hit up the cheapest way I know to get my hands on a Garmin (FREE), even if it’s only mine for a week.

I had high hopes for a dinner out at a restaurant near Zak’s office before a homeschooling gathering tonight. He eats lunch here frequently and has only had good things to say about their salads.

Double Date

November 7th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Dinner Time - (9 Comments)

This afternoon the girls went off with Zak’s mom while Zak and I went on a little double date with my mom and step dad!

We hit the Rochester Museum and Science Center to visit the new Titanic exhibit that arrived last month.

Real artifacts uncovered from the Titanic are currently on display at the museum. As soon as we heard about this exhibit I knew we had to go.

As we waited to enter the exhibit hall we were given boarding passes with the name of a real passenger who was on board.

This morning we had an appointment to visit a prospective house. I had time for 45 minutes of yoga, a fast breakfast and shower before zipping out the door to meet up with Zak and our realtor in the city. After our walk through that lasted nearly an hour, Zak and I walked the streets in the surrounding neighborhood to get a feel for the area.

Did you know that house hunting makes you hungry? True story.

Feeling ReFRESHed

October 5th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Vegetable Lovin' - (20 Comments)

Home Sweet Home from our little mother-daughter weekend away, I’m feeling unexpectedly reFreshed after just a little time off from my motherly responsibilities. Happy to return home and find everyone in one piece and no mismatched socks were used inappropriately while I was away.

The blogger meet up at Fresh yesterday with Angela and the Oh She Glows readers (that sounds like the name of a band) was so much fun!

The menu was filled with so many fabulous choices it took forever for the 10 of us to decide on what to order.
