Tomorrow We Run With Zombies

October 21st, 2011 | Posted by Alison Spath in Dinner Time - (5 Comments)

In preparation for running from zombies tomorrow, we hit up the only logical place for dinner tonight.

Actually, in preparation for running from zombies tomorrow, first I dropped the girls off with Aunt Ellen, then I picked up The Man and we hit the bar.

The veggie bar at Wegmans. If I hope to ditch any zombies tomorrow, greens tonight are a must!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in town. No place else can I load my plate up with greens and then pile on a ton of fun stuff.

Sorta a Title

OK, I promise to stop starting all my posts with a picture of my left hand.

Right after this one.

Carrot Finger

Now, I won’t show you what’s under that bandage, but let’s just say this carrot sorta reminds me of something that I can’t quite put my finger on.

You know, if I had some raw hamburger to stuff into that crack there I bet then I could finger figure it out.

So how on earth a little finger infection and minor surgery can throw life into such upheaval for a couple of days is beyond me. But then I look at that carrot again and think about all the nerve endings in my finger suddenly I’m reminded why.

Girls Night Out

Tonight I had a welcome distraction and was able to escape for a few hours from the boxes and unpacking and kids-going-stir-crazy madness. With a girlfriend in from out of town for the holidays, my three best girls and I left men and children behind and to head out and paint the town red. Or something. Really we just went out to eat but that doesn’t sound nearly as exciting.

Closing Time

It’s done! We officially bought our new house today!

We're Home!

Yes I’m wearing my favorite pink hat inside – the thermostat is set to 58 until we move in YO!

Zak worked from home this morning and we left for the bank while Aunt Ellen graciously agreed to take our children off our hands for the day. We left early to sign on the dotted line about 30 times each and then went straight from the bank to the new house to drop off boxes and soak in that new old house smell.

High Hopes

I had high hopes today.

High hopes that the Garmin 405 would be available to borrow at my local running store from their electronic lending library.

Beat Up 405

Score! After reading Shari’s post yesterday on gadgets I had Garmin envy and hit up the cheapest way I know to get my hands on a Garmin (FREE), even if it’s only mine for a week.

I had high hopes for a dinner out at a restaurant near Zak’s office before a homeschooling gathering tonight. He eats lunch here frequently and has only had good things to say about their salads.

Double Date

This afternoon the girls went off with Zak’s mom while Zak and I went on a little double date with my mom and step dad!

We hit the Rochester Museum and Science Center to visit the new Titanic exhibit that arrived last month.

Real artifacts uncovered from the Titanic are currently on display at the museum. As soon as we heard about this exhibit I knew we had to go.

As we waited to enter the exhibit hall we were given boarding passes with the name of a real passenger who was on board.

It Was Ladies Night

Blog: And just where have you been, young lady?

Me: Um, err… I was out.

Blog: out? OUT!? Where exactly is OUT?

Me: Well, let me start at the beginning.

A long, long time ago, on a Sassy Saturday afternoon…

I ate a salad.

Saturday Salad

A salad filled with red leaf lettuce, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers and green peppers. It was a lovely salad indeed.

After lunch I packed my bags for an old fashioned, get out your dancing shoes, life before kids, girls night out and sleepover to boot.

Let’s Switch

The girls were with Aunt Ellen today and my mom happened to have the day off from work. We decided to take the opportunity to have a little mother-daughter day together. We headed out to eat at a small, local restaurant called Aladdins Natural Eatery in downtown Rochester. Their menu touts fine, fresh ingredients to make delicious, healthy meals. Well what do you know, I’m all a-tout that myself.

We decided to split the babaganoush for an appetizer.

The Classroom

Today the girls went with Ellen, giving Zak and I chance to remember what the other one’s voice sounded like without the typical screeching and classic interrupting. We talked about going out to eat, a movie, shopping… the afternoon was our child free oyster.

My bucket of watermelon held me over for a while, but without warning I realized how empty my stomach felt and I was going to go from hungry to starving in about .256 seconds if we didn’t get to a restaurant STAT.

To buy myself some time, I made a little banana mullet snack.
