Banana Nut Balls for Breakfast

I took yesterday off from exercise so a run was in order first thing this morning. A quickie 4 miles in about a half hour, home to whip up an Averie inspired breakfast.

I think I need to send Cuisinart a thank you note because I use my food processor almost every day. Or maybe they should send me a thank you note for featuring my food processor on the blog almost everyday. YOU’RE WELCOME CUISINART!

Vegetable Pulp Crackers

I’ve been a busy little bee this morning! (New header anyone?)

After some blog reading this morning I officially had produce dehydration on the brain. With dehydrating madness going on across the land, I knew today was the day to fill the house with the smell of hot fruit stank.

But first, a run! 5 ish miles in 40 ish minutes. I got caught in the rain for the last mile and a half but you’ll be glad to know that both me and the iPod survived.

Today is going to be the most productive day in the history of productivity. I so declare it.

I need to keep Maxine occupied while I whiz around this house and get stuff done this morning – including mopping the kitchen floor and I need little feet OUT of the kitchen for at least a 15 – 20 minute stretch.

Easy Like Saturday Morning

Zak and Ava are heading up to the cottage this weekend to get some things wrapped up for the end of the season. Zak was going to go by himself with his brother and mom, but then we thought Ava would enjoy it. Now that she’s older she’s much easier to take on the 4 hour road trip to up north.

We also thought it might be nice to let each girl have a parent all to themselves for a weekend. So Zak and Ava are off on a little adventure and Maxine and I here to have what I’m sure will be a few little adventures of our own.

Crack That Nut

Off and running first thing this morning. I’m so glad we’ve had a slight reprieve from the chilly mornings and I can run in shorts for a little while longer still.

I left my iPod at home today, wanting to just run and be completely present in the moment, focusing on what I was doing. My breathing and the sound of my feet hitting the pavement were the soundtrack for this morning’s run.

I had enough time this morning to go a bit longer and did 5.76 miles in about 47 minutes. My run definitely felt longer today without something to distract me, but it was welcome.

Oh Woe is Three

I like to consider myself a reasonable parent. We practice gentle disciple and offer loving guidance. We encourage respect and the proper use of manners. I’ll eagerly honor requests when they are asked politely, in a sweet tone and especially when there’s something in it for me.

Maxine woke up in the middle of the night last night politely asking for water. Ava’s unconscious heard this request and she immediately woke up asking for water too. I was groggy but knew that there would be no going back to sleep until pint sized thirsts were quenched. I pulled myself out of bed and pressed my near sighted eyes to the bed side clock to see what time it was before stumbling downstairs to fetch two glasses of water.

My little mung beans have already started to sprout!

Sprouting

After a few more email exchanges with my mom this morning I realized it was probably worth my time to take a closer look at the sprouting instructions that came with my lids.

Wait. Read the directions? Imagine that!

Sprouting Instructions

OK I promise I did read the instructions yesterday but didn’t get much beyond the soaking part because that’s all I was concerned with then.

It’s Juice Day

When I first started to consider vegetable juicing, Zak was skeptical. He didn’t understand what the point was or what was so great about it.

“Why not just eat a salad?” he asked.

Well sure, you could just eat a salad, but you’d have to eat A LOT of salad to reap all the benefits from the live enzymes and chlorophyll you get from a small glass of green juice. Or a big glass for that matter.

I was holding off buying a juicer because I felt some resistance and was not yet prepared to shell out big bucks on an experiment, but thank the heavens the juice gods smiled at us and the rest is history.

Tea Time

I was on the fence about running this morning since I ran yesterday, but then it was decided for me when Maxine woke up early. I spent the time getting caught up with all things house and life instead. It’s amazing how just straying from the norm for a few days throws everything out of whack.

When I felt ready for something to eat I whipped up a bowl of fruit cereal. But today, I had the GOOD prunes. That’s right, the good prunes. I’m joining Holly in the kingdom of g-ma’s and I’m proud of it.

Fruit Cereal. Yummy Yummy.

Unless you’ve watched The Wiggles before, today’s title will be a little less meaningful for you. Go ahead click that link. You can come back and curse me later when you can’t get that song out of your head.

Today is a rest day. Tomorrow will be too. I’m resting my legs in preparation for 13 big ones on Sunday and I would be lying if I said I’m not grateful for the extra time two rest days will afford me.

I would also be lying if I said today’s fruit cereal didn’t make me drop to my knees and weep tears of unabashed joy.
