More homeschool ice skating today! Except today we found the equivalent to training wheels for beginner ice skaters.

Training Wheels for Ice Skaters

We had another little lesson this week from a very sweet instructor. (But would have preferred Sk8ter Gurl Hollyz or Ice Dancing With The Stars Cindy – sorry ladies, we had to settle.)

And within 10 minutes, she was off and running. Errrr, skating.

Now She's FAST

From the ice rink we skid home for a fast, late lunch and then off to the gym for homeschooling Phys Ed.

Now this is what I call a real salad.

A Real Salad

I guess I’ll just have to be my own fruit and salad company. You know what they say! If you want something done right you just have to do it yourself. Can do.

We kept ourselves busy today, both in and out of the kitchen.

Let’s make more MamaBars!

Let's Make Banana Bites

Let’s make something with glitter! *insert insane shrieking here* ANYTHING WITH GLITTER! Let’s make it! Gliiittteeerrrrrrrrrr…

I’m not so sure though that the “do it yourself” cliche applies to Christmas ornaments. Some things really are better store-bought.

Homeschooling Ice Skating started today.

If you decide to go, get your act in gear.
If you decide to stay home, stay in your pajamas.

OK! Let’s get our act in gear! Time to go ice skating!

If you decide to abandon your oldest and send her out by herself with blades strapped to her feet, be sure to take a picture of it.

It’s Tuesday. That means it’s a magic basket full of snacks for me and one or more of the offspring. Today’s basket of packed goodness was for me and Ava. I was unexpectedly assisting in her homeschooling class today. Maxine stayed behind with Aunt Ellen while Ava and I forged ahead.

Tuesday Picnic Basket

I was of course excited to dig into my MamaBar and give it a real trial run. (i.e., not sampling it over the food processor bowl.) I chowed this puppy moments before getting out of the car to tackle a room full of 5 and 6 year olds for three hours. I needed every last ounce of coconut oil.

I shed my yoga pants this evening in honor of the ribbon cutting ceremony being held at the library. (There’s no better reason to shed your pants if you ask me.)

Library After All

A new wing was unveiled at the library today! And it was named after me! Just a little “thank you” from the library to me for all the overdue fines I’ve paid.

I gave a speech after they listed all the new books, equipment and monuments they’ve purchased with my overdue fines. You’re welcome Library – it’s been my pleasure.

We hit up the apple orchard again today after my friend Sharon saw my post from last week. I figured I’d better go before I had a chance to finish our 11 lb bag.

Back to the Apple Orchard

Before we left, her girls drank green lemonade and after they were done I was totally jealous that my kids will not.

After juice but before we left I tried one of these Heart Thrive bars I picked up the other day.

Before I finished it I knew I was going to need something to drink after I was done. This sucker was dry!

Per usual, I was up before the rest of the crew this morning. I fired up the oven first thing and put together another batch of Toasted Apple Cinnamon Cereal a la Brendan Brazier and Thrive.

When I made this cereal earlier this week I was sort of surprised at how perfectly chewy the apples turned out. I sliced up a second apple and baked it right along with the cereal, both for an hour at 250.

I’m pretty sure I saw Mama Pea do this a while ago.

I got my run in this morning. A very cold, wet, 5 mile run run – but come hell or frozen water I was getting out there to run today and by God I did.

Immediately upon I scarfing down the same breakfast I’ve had for the past two days Zak and I left to meet my step dad (who, as luck would have it also happens to be a civil engineer and is qualified to do home inspections) for the inspection of the new house!

Today’s homeschooling activity du jour? Apple picking!

We met up with some homeschooling friends at an apple orchard today to enjoy the blast of warm air we’ve had and to do a classic upstate NY fall activity – slip on rotting apples and sit on pumpkins.

Kids! Running!

Kids. Running.

All the varieties available for picking – some of which I’d never even heard of. Topaz, Fortune, Northern Spy? Come on, you’re just making these up.

On our way to pick some Crispins, Mama Appleseed’s fav!
