It’s simply that time of year.
I don’t usually buy flavored coffee, but for whatever reason, I decided to go for it this time. I think the Green Mountain Coffee Marketing Department totally sucked me in with their “Limited Edition!!” ploy. I can’t miss out! Throw it in the cart!! HURRY!
I’m such a sucker.
It’s too pumpkiny though, to the point of being nearly undrinkable.
I solved that pumpkin problem by buying a pound of regular and brewing a 1/4 pumpkin, 3/4 regular in our little 4 cup pot.
Now it’s pumpkin perfect.
Breakfast came with more pumpkin, as well as a side of math today.
Served with overnight pumpkin pie oats for me, just regular overnight oats for the math student with unbrushed hair and still in her pajamas.
Mom’s who live in glass houses with unbrushed hair and in pajamas should not be throwing stones.
Fine. I’ll just eat breakfast and talk about place value instead.
1/3 c rolled oats, a scoop of pumpkin, a scoop of greek yogurt, a splash of almond milk plus cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger to soak and soften up overnight in the fridge.
Topped this morning with a banana, ground flax and a small spoonful of almond butter.
I was marveling today at how well pumpkin and cinnamon go together. This made me want to dig around the interwebs to remind me (and you) about the wonders of cinnamon and all it’s anti-microbial and blood glucose regulating awesomeness.
And since we’re all learning at home today, I’m throwing in a couple of other fun lists I landed on. Like, 20 Anti-Aging Foods (Cinnamon, Oats, Coffee and Greek yogurt!) as well as 11 Best Foods You Aren’t Eating from an old New York Times article (Cinnamon, Pumpkin!)
Or a rad way to make ornaments with cinnamon so you can marvel at how well 3 cups of cinnamon and applesauce go with any secular or non-secular holiday conifers you might bring into your home to decorate toward the end December.
All those articles made me realize I’m not taking nearly enough advantage of cinnamon. Or the ornament making potential in ground, brown, smelly stuff. Like pumpkin spice coffee.
and it’s not enough that your house is filled with pumpkin goodness, but it’s officially Happy Pumpkin Day here today as well.
I’m off to get a pumpkin spice latte, hit the pumpkin patch, complete with jumpee house, and we’ll be baking pumpkin things later to make the house smell yum.
and I’m knitting a sweater with pumpkin colored yarn~
