Let’s Pretend

After the race this morning we headed out on our next adventure. Open water swimming.

Open Water Swim

Um no, not me. I sat on the blanket and ate lunch. Zak and Shawn swam a mile around some buoys out on this lake, to help Shawn prepare for his triathlon next month. I do the running part, Zak does the swimming part. How handy are we as friends??

Lunch Spread

Ava pretended she was a deep sea diver.

She's Ready

I pretended I haven’t eaten this sandwich 100x already this week while also pretending Maxine wasn’t sitting in my lap lest a grain of sand get in between her toes.

Yet Another Open Faced Sandwich

And then I pretended I was a wrinkly old lady eating wrinkly old apples.

Apple Rings

We brought the kayak with us and after their swim they took Ava on a short ride on the lake.

Let’s pretend they haven’t reached the maximum weight capacity in that boat.

For dinner I warmed up left over pizza for the crew and pretended I didn’t want pizza two days in a row. Instead I whipped up a quickie black bean veggie burger made with black beans, corn, whole wheat flour and Bone Suckin’ BBQ sauce.

Veggie Burger

Served on a toasted Ezekiel roll, pickle (hiding under bean burger), mustard, L, T, O and a side salad thrown together with what I could find prepped and ready to slap into a bowl.

Pretend I have a really big mouth. Or maybe that’s one we don’t have to pretend.

CHOMP CHOMP

And then I ate an embarrassingly big piece of G&B dark chocolate with a hefty portion of AB to boot.

AB and G&B

This was so rich, felt a little *blech* after eating it. I didn’t intended for it to be so big but sometimes even with the best intentions you just can’t help where that bar breaks. Maybe we should pretend I broke it again and put some chocolate back. And then let’s pretend I didn’t add almond butter either.

Nah. Skip that one.

Apparently today is Play with Shawn day because as I type they are out in the garage working on the car trying to pretend they aren’t really just computer nerds. I’m trying to pretend it’s time for bed but so far I’m the only one pretending that one.
