Food for Thought

Since Zak is off this week and I had a bout of insomnia last night (coffee in the morning and caffeinated tea in the afternoon are my suspected culprits) I slept in this morning and headed out for my run around 8.

My workouts this week are going to be scheduled with a 5K this Saturday in mind. I’m hoping to beat my 5K PR (personal record) from this spring and run it faster than 23:21. Getting my runs in early this week so I can rest toward the end of the week and (hopefully) kick my own ass on Saturday.

Muggy but at least cool, I headed out this morning to run a comfortable 6.24 miles in 50 minutes. My legs felt pretty tired toward the end but nothing a little green juice couldn’t fix.

The star of today’s green sludge:

A beat up pear.

Thank you Heather for this fab idea!

Today’s concoction consisted a HUGE head of romain, cucumber, pear, lemon and ginger. Go ahead and call me a lettuce vampire, I love drinking the blood of plants!

I wanted to make Green Lemonade yesterday after my long run but I couldn’t find a small piece to the juicer. It’s small but it’s also a very crucial part: the nut that holds the blade in place. I figured it would turn up and had probably just rolled under the toaster oven or was inadvertently put away in the wrong place.

Are You Kidding Me?

My camera has seen better days.

This is what my apple with cinnamon looks like when I don’t have my contacts in.

I passed on a morning work out to “run” to the grocery store for fresh produce.

Mama needs fruit!

Mmmm blurry cantaloupe.

And fuzzy coffee with a notebook as I made notes on the new digital camera I’m going to go buy this morning with my stash of cash I’ve been saving to buy a Garmin.

Oh well, who needs a Garmin anyway?

That Kind of Morning

Waking up hungry, I ransacked the fridge for a bowl of pre-run watermelon.

A bit of foreshadowing for more PINK yet to come this morning perhaps?

Watermelon partially digested, I laced up my sneakers and hit the pavement for 32 minutes to run 4.18 miles with Jillian.

Upon my return as I approached the house, I could hear Maxine crying from the street (windows open). I ran up the stairs and snagged her from the bedroom. We came downstairs to do some yoga to stretch and cool down.
