I See Blue Circles

My kids love frozen blueberries.

Frozen Blueberries

Both of them. Even the little one.

They snack on them straight from the freezer and then force me to look at their blue stained lips for about three hours until the color wears off, or until I can’t take it anymore and pin them to the ground for a spit bath with my saliva wetted thumb.

I haven’t bought frozen blueberries for a few months now because of the overabundance of summer fruit we were getting from the CSA share. They asked me to buy frozen blueberries, but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy FROZEN fruit with three pounds of fresh peaches in the fridge.

Then just a couple days ago I read a Food Science article in the October issue of Runner’s World magazine that said blueberries protect you on long runs and

berry-eating runners had more immune cells and less inflammation and oxidative damage before and after the run. Researchers believe anthocyanidins in blueberries are responsible for the protective benefits.

And then somehow, someway – someone mysteriously added frozen blueberries to the grocery list again.

Oh, I see how it is. When mom wants them… suddenly it’s a different story?

Runner's World Food Science Article

Yes, that’s exactly right. I’m glad we’ve finally got that straightened out.

ACTUALLY the summer fruit portion of our CSA share is over, so the little blue stain machines are now more than welcome in our freezer once again.

The kids cheered and ran laps through the downstairs after discovering frozen blueberries in the bags upon my arrival home from the store.  I cheered and ran laps through the kitchen as I threw together a batch of overnight oats.

They aren’t the only ones who love frozen blueberries around here.  I knew exactly where I wanted to see the next round of blue stains – and it definitely wasn’t my face.

1/2 c rolled oats, a scoop of 2% fage, a pour of almond milk, a tablespoon of chia seeds and a dash of cinnamon – put together to soak overnight in the fridge.

Frozen blueberries moved to a bowl to spend a little time thawing before breakfast this morning.

Oh Blueberries!

How Embarrassing

Maybe I should have been a tad more specific about exactly where I wanted to see more blue stains.

I meant on OATMEAL! And maybe on some of those banana slices too – but not on place mats that are already blue! I’m never going to be able to lick that stain off.

Oh well. Frozen blueberries are back and we’re all glad!

But now if you’ll excuse me please,

Laundry to Do

I have laundry to do and faces to clean and blueberries to eat.

  • Jane/you-know-who says:

You don’t lick stains off! Shout ’em out.

  • However, rhinoplasty can markedly improve your appearance if you arent happy with the nose you have.
A nose job is really well-known due to the fact people think that any difficulties with it are very apparent to other folks simply because of
its vantage position proper in front of the face.
In particular, changes were noted in the ways patients perceived their
own voices, and their emotional responses to them.
