I go through phases where I eat oats every day. And then there are times where the oatmeal canister gathers dust on its top. This week I’ve been back in that oat phase, and am apparently in a frozen banana phase too.
I discovered this concoction last week by accident, really – I can’t even tell you what possessed me to throw oats in the food processor when making banana whip. I just know that I did.
Banana Whip Oats
1 frozen banana (approx.)
1/2 c rolled oats
1 heaping Tbsp hemp seeds (optional, for protein)
Ready?
Go.
So maybe I don’t know exactly why I did it, but I can tell you I feel almost naughty eating this as my first meal of the day. Especially with a scoop of almond butter plunked down into the middle of that cold oaty bananany mess.
It’s thick! And cold! And sweet! And nutty! Who needs cookie dough ice cream for dessert when you can have it for breakfast?
You’ll see! Naughty is exactly right.
I’ll have your breakfast!
Does the 14 cup Cuisinart get noisy when starting to work on thoses frozen banana chunks? My Kitchen Aid fp sure does.
Yes, it gets loud – and there’s a wee bit of food processor dancing for a moment too. I’ve found that freezing them in small chunks helps things smooth out and quiet down sooner!
oh my gosh that sounds sinful!
that was a genius idea. i just need to make sure you knew that. i happen to have a frozen banana, oats + chia seeds at home…
