You Have GOT to be Kidding Me

Finger Felon

This post is brought to you courtesy of my right hand. And the title of this post has only to with the bandage job because, well, I mean – really now.

Besides that? I’m happy! For the first time in well over a week, my the tip of my left index finger does not hurt! At least until the local anesthesia wears off and I have to crack into this bottle of Vicodin here. Better hurry up and click Publish before this post makes a liar out of me.

So I am pleased to report that everything went smoothly today. Said left index finger was sliced open from tip to first knuckle and he’s “optimistic” that they got everything out that needed gettin’ out. *Insert dry heaving noises here.*

I also confirmed one more time that I really have to wait two weeks to get sweaty. I swam laps first thing this morning knowing that it will probably be even longer than that before I can get in the pool again. When I asked about swimming, he didn’t say a thing and simply shot me a look that quite plainly said “You Have GOT to be Kidding Me.”

Alrighty then.

AND I’m pretty sure that look also said “No cooking today, you better plan to go out to dinner tonight too.”

Well alrighty then!

  • Yowza!! All I kept thinking while reading this was, “how in the world did she type with one hand?” I hope your little felon heals quickly and painlessly!

OH MY GOSH, that is the biggest bandage EVER.

You need to make up some insane story, like you got your bionic finger smashed in the piston of a semi truck and in order for you to keep the general public from finding out about your alien digit you need that giant bandage.

    something like that.

    only better.
    A LOT BETTER.

didn’t even give you a Barbie bandaid. sheez.

Yes, by all means, go out to dinner please!!!

  • Perfect excuse to go out for dinner!

  • Wow! Glad the surgery went well! You should milk the “no cooking and cleaning and doing really much of anything” thing as long as you can… Well, I would! 😉

    • Hi Amber,

Here’s a post a wrote about 7 months after the finger felon incident with a picture of what my finger looks like now.

It’s been 18 months since my surgery, with the exception of scar tissue, my finger feels normal now and looks the same today as it does in that picture linked above from last year. I don’t remember having any issues straightening my finger, but I do know the incision site was sore and tender for quite some time. I continued to hold that finger out the way while doing things for a few months after the surgery, feeling afraid to bump it knowing it would hurt if bumped. Hope this helps, check with your doctor if you’re concerned!
