Thanksgiving is Officially Over

November 27th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Dinner Time

After a roasted red pepper hummus sandwich and a side of carrot sticks with salsa for lunch this afternoon,

Friday Lunch

we were off with some friends to the local garden center for some holiday fun.

Christmas Fun

Lots of decorations to check out –

Red and Green

Hairy Santa

Hairy Reindeer

and painted plywood to stick our heads through.

Max Face

Decorations

We enjoyed a gigantic train display.

Lots of Trains

Checking it Out

The adults appreciated the finer details of the model, like dirty old men and their posters.

Dirty Old Man

Bums being picked up by the cops.

Drinking on the Job

After train spotting, it was time to move on.

Pointsettas

There were rides to ride after all! And rides to just watch too, apparently.

She'll Just Watch. Thanks.

Maxine chose to watch, Ava chose to ride.

At Least Ava Likes It

One likes to bounce.

One Bounces

One likes to hold still.

Ride Voyeur

But we finally found a ride that was Maxine approved. Mama approved too thanks to the lack of sketchy characters standing around the train scene. Although a reindeer decorating a Christmas tree seems a little sketchy, but we’ll let it slide this time.

The One Thing She'll Ride

A fun day out, but I’m afraid the day after Thanksgiving is not complete without a meal full of leftovers.

Plate of Leftovers

Leftovers of vegetarian stuffing and sweet potato casserole were freshened up with some steamed broccoli and cauliflower and a little sage seasoned, sauteed tofu.

Thanksgiving Tofu

Plus a small piece of apple pie!

Last of the Pie

The leftovers are gone, the last piece of pie has been eaten. Thanksgiving is officially over. Who wants a sexy lady poster for Christmas? I’m making my list and checking it twice! I already know you’re naughty, but I’m nice – Mama Claus is shopping around!

    What a fun day out!
We got ours on a hike!
I am ready for Holiday cheer and my TREE! well see. I need Hubs’ help but I think I wore him out today.

Girls are SO cute on the rides!

I think we are going to have leftovers for a MONTH. We just put the last of Hub’s 20 lb turkey in the freezer. I left most of my “bring overs” with our family. SHEW. AND the desserts are gone too!
    THANK HEAVENS!

Every time Maxine wears that dress I don’t feel bad that Gigi wants to wear hers EVERY DAY. I am so impressed that you could hang with the trains. You are a way cooler mom than me.

  • What a day out shopping! Cant believe all the Santa stuff. I went to Best Buy today. Lame, but I actually needed some things. It’s so weird for me to see Santa and cold weather stuff. It was seriously mid 80s today and I almost turned my air on in the house, it was 78/79 in here for awhile. The edge of almost too hot for child to nap. And mom to breathe :)

I’m usually not one for leftovers, but thanksgiving leftovers are amazing!

  • Thanksgiving leftovers are the best. ๐Ÿ˜€ And checking out all the Christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving is so much fun…I can’t wait to start going for walks and looking at the Christmas lights, putting up decorations around the house, etc. So much fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Love the train! It’s quite interesting what you choose to notice though… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad you guys had such a fun day. And your earlier post reminded me how desperately I need new sneakers (I have been saying this for months now…).

    Enjoy your weekend! :)

That garden center looks awesome!! I love outdoor garden decorations!! And rides too?? You guys have it all!

Maxine is adorable, never far from mommy…what a fun day!

I didn’t bring any leftovers home, left them all at my mom’s… of course she’s VERY close and I did pop over for some pie… which is odd because I don’t really even like pie….

    Have a Great Day!!

“Sketchy characters” standing around the train platform?????? Don’t tell your dad or cousin Charlie that!! The stereotype of your typical “railfan” has changed quite dramatically over the years! Grandfather will love the train pics, I know Charlie did. We haven’t been there in a while, thanks for the reminder. I think my favorite foods to read about are your breakfast…es. What’s your favorite breakfast?

    • Alison says:

hahaha not the real people but the little guys IN the train display! I guess I could have worded that better.

My fav breakfast? That’s a tough one! I’ve got so many, it all depends on the morning! Fruit cereal, overnight oats, breakfast cookies, green smoothies, fresh juice, toast and almond butter with banana. Now I’m hungry! ๐Ÿ˜‰
