A Real Rest Day

November 11th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Breakfast

I declared Monday a rest day and then went and proceeded to rake and haul leaves for more than three hours, making Monday anything but a rest day.

Today though, is really going to be a rest day. After two days of non-stop action, this house is most definitely showing signs of neglect and lots of comings and goings… why do I feel so stressed when the house is a mess? Is it because stress and mess rhyme? Probably.

It must have been a sign from above that the Garmin 405 was picked up with a dead battery and needs to be recharged.

So this morning with my bowl of chocolate fruit cereal, I had a side of Garmin battery charging.

Choc Fruit Cereal

1 diced banana
1 diced gala apple
2 Tbsp ground flax
1 Tbsp raw cacao nibs
2 Tbsp sliced almonds
1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 c unsweetened chocolate almond milk

Close Cereal

The Daily Plate says: 427 Calories.

I’m going to take a cue from the Garmin today:

Recharge

Time for Mama to recharge her batteries too. Looks like that Garmin is taking a deep, cleansing breath, doesn’t it? I need to do that as well.

You were NOT kidding when you said we were twins separated at birth! I had a 2.5 mile training run on the schedule for today and other than that- NADA, ZIP, NOTHING. Yesterday everyone kept asking ‘what are you going to do on your day off?’
    my reply: NOTHING!

The little one was off Monday for Veterans Day so she will be in school, she is with her dad tonight so that means I have to do NOTHING except drop her off at school.

I always manage to cram so much stuff into my days and weekends that it will be nice to lay around, clean and do whatever I want (nothing)…

Have a wonderful rest day and I can’t wait to hear about your Garmin run tomorrow!

  • mess and stress . . . most definitely related. I cannot function when my house or desk is messy, yet I’m the one who makes the mess (you know the whole not having kids thing)

You will love the Garmin! I love mine!! It has helped me get so much faster, and also learn better training methods!!

  • Erica says:

mmm what a breakfast bowl!I think that sounds like a fantastic idea. If it doesn’t stop raining, I may be doing the same thing!

  • Daily plate says 427 calories. Angharad says get it in my mouth!

  • Mama Pea says:

You are scaring the bejeezus out of me with the calorie counting AND the Garmin. Sounds like a lot of math.

My house is similar to yours at this moment. I’m okay with that.

    REST….CHARGE the BATTERIES!
Lady you are singing my song. I pooped out at 930 and slept on the couch (cuz I was “hanging out) till 11.
    sleeeeep was so good.

I didn’t do my yoga/pilates/upper body thing. I blogged, played with JJ, cooked and went to bed.

I don’t know what today will be but I know it will involved CHILLING.

    and reading Thrive.
    I declare today REST DAY

I couldn’t figure out why I was SO TIRED yesterday at 6pm. Then I realized it was because I needed sleep. Duh. I went to bed at 9:45 and woke up super chipper at 6am. Rest = amazing.

Ahh Rest Days… I had one yesterday. Not by plan, but thanks to my dog keeping me up from 2:00 AM the night before. So I was a lump on a log all day because I couldn’t muster the energy to run, lift or do yoga!

    Enjoy it!

OK, you have to stop showing pictures of how cute and small the Garmin 405 is compared to my gigantic 305. You are sending me subliminal messages “you want the 405, you want the 405”. :)

If you tell me it connects wirelessly to the PC or that the heart rate monitor does’t require a strap, my head might seriously pop right off!! :)

    • Alison says:

LOL – DOES connect wirelessly! It’s got a USB remote sensor and as soon as you even get near your computer it downloads your stats to your computer immediately. I borrowed this unit last November and it was really great!

  • Lizzy says:

i love your chocolate bowl of goodness for breakfast! i think every morning should start with a healthy dose of the good stuff, and by good stuff i don’t mean a stiff drink! heheheheheehehe….love u girl! :)

  • Happy recharging! :) Hope you had a wonderful “rest” day! I don’t know about you, but a day with the toddler is really never a “rest” day… 😉
