Merry Mid October

October 15th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Late Night Craziness

After a meeting this morning, more errands, taking Ava to her homeschool gym class, I decided we had not yet done enough running around so we hit up Wegmans for “just one thing”.

Usually I groan when I see Christmas stuff out at the stores before Halloween, but today I squealed!

Holiday Teas!

Celestial Seasonings Holiday Teas are back! They’re back everyone! They’re BACK!

I fell in love with these last year. More specifically, Candy Cane Lane and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride.

I’m afraid to even look at the ingredient list lest it contain something I don’t want to consume. I have no idea how they can possibly combine tea leaves to make tea taste JUST LIKE A FRIGGIN’ SUGAR COOKIE without the use of something we should not be eating. It’s probably all fine and well because chances are I looked last year – but I don’t want to look yet, just in case. I just want to drink my cookie tea. Go away.

I mean seriously, it just doesn’t feel like mid-October without mechanical holiday characters and sparkly lead filled lights and fake trees dusted with some concoction of chemicals that looks like snow right in the middle of the grocery store.

Merry Mid October

Zak’s working late, I’m whooped after a long day so I did what any reasonable woman would do. I made myself a Christmas dinner.

Christmas Dinner

(Green and red. Get it?) That would be smashed avocado on Ezekiel toast with salsa. Zak can fend for himself with leftovers when he decides to grace us with his presence. (*Insert evil wife cackle here*)

The kids are in the tub laughing hysterically at something. I’m fairly confident the floor is holding an inch of splashed out water and Say Yes to Cucumber body wash/bubble bath. At least now I won’t have to mop in there for a while. Someone remind me to paint the living room ceiling before we put the house on the market.

CANDY CANE LANE! My absolute favorite. Haven’t tried the Sugar Cookie but I’ll look for it tomorrow. And you reminded me I haven’t had an avosalsasammy so I will do that tomorrow. Wait, did I really say “sammy”?

A WALL of tea?! Seriously? That’s insane. I checked the new Target for fun holiday teas today, but no dice. They didn’t even have their christmas stuff out yet! Um, better get on that Target. Slackers.
Honestly though, Christmas displays in October need to be banned. It makes me sick of Christmas by November 5th and that’s no good.

I’ll be looking for Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride.

  • You should do a PSA for that sugar cookie tea. I will buy some just b/c of you!!

  • I went to the groc store last night at 10:30pm with my kiddo b/c she was bouncing from the walls, hubs wasnt home, and we wanted to get out. I went looking for this tea: Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride.
They didn’t have it. Sigh. But I stocked up on kale and made kale chips instead :)

I had to come out of hiding on this post: I live in Syracuse and had the exact. same. reaction. to the xmas teas at Wegmans yesterday! Usually I hate this Christmas stuff, especially in freaking October, but candy cane lane tea became an addiction for me last winter. Glad to see someone else get all excited over this as well!

This is my exact thoughts upon seeing the teas: “OH. MY. GOD.”

    Heaven much?

I try really, super hard to not ask my parents to ship me stuff to Japan… this is going to be difficult!

  • I am a hot tea junkie once the weather gets cold! Today was freezing. So, I’m glad I have a stocked tea shelf in the pantry.

Sugar cookie tea? I am going to have to go find that!

right now I am into these very aromatic green teas…but something that smells and tastes like a cookie could be fun!

My husband has been eating and “letting me fend for myself” all week…its getting old!
Dude, either WAIT for me, or COOK for me! That’s all I’m saying!

I eat enough food solo at my desk to come home and eat solo in the pantry (que the pretzel bag)

bad evil wife! go make hubs some dinner! hahahaha

    okay.
I need something GREEN to eat~

don’t forget to paint the ceiling!
    xo

We had snow this morning! Crazy, but between the snow, cold and christmas displays I am convinced that we are already well beyond Halloween!

  • Holly says:
