A Juice 22

October 5th, 2009 | Posted by Alison Spath in Dinner Time

After a weekend of eating out and juice bar hopping I’ve come realize I’m missing a lot of juice creativity and possibility when I stick with the same old, same old green lemonade day after day. Today I swapped out romaine for carrot – WOO living on the wild side!

Well, if carrots are what I’ve got – love the one you’re with, right?

Big Beets

A very pretty spinach salad with apples, raw cashews and craisins tossed in miso dressing and rice vinegar.

Pretty Spinach Salad

Different than my standard giant salad but I still feel like I’m spinning my wheels in a food rut.

Dinner was a clean-out-the-fridge-and-do-the-best-you-can night.

Clean Out the Fridge Night

I made a sweet potato sandwich. Random? Yes. Good? Sure. Eat this again? Not on purpose.

Sweet Potato Sandwich

Zak’s old stand by meal is always tofu and veggie stir fry. That’s what would be going on in this picture, with a little mac and cheese action in the foreground too.

Dinner Randomness

My helping of Zak’s corn, mushroom and tofu stir fry while slaving over a pot of Annie’s Mac and Cheese for the wildebeests.

Stand and Eat

I just finished burning my tongue on a cup of tea, to squelch that “I’m not hungry but I still want something to eat” after dinner feeling. My tongue is stinging but at least it worked and that feeling has passed. I think I’m feeling the after shocks of a weekend full of food fun.

I’ve felt like I’ve been walking around with my head in a cloud today. No work out. No meal plan. Lots of blah. I tried to snap myself out of it with my juice late morning but then it did was reminded me of how boring my at home juice is. I think that’s a Catch 22. Or better yet, a Juice 22.

Welp, here’s a very REAL LIFE post, that’s for sure.

  • Sorry, for the blah day! Is it cloudy upstate?

Your sweet potato sandwich reminded me that I had a boyfriend once who was obsessed with potato sandwiches. I thought it was the weirdest thing ever, at least a sweet potato is high in nutrients!

  • The salad looks really great…for a woman with no meal plan or workout, you did a great job on that :) And real life post? Yeah, that’s what happens when you post frequently. They aren’t all perfect cuz life aint always perfect and ya know what, that’s ok and I love ya :)

So you’re saying that BEAUTIFUL magenta juice is your green lemonade minus the romaine and added carrot? did you add beet?

How come when I added carrot to MY non green lemonade it looked like mustard?
I am cleaning out the fridge too…only because I am waiting for pay day! I defrosted my carrot/lentil/ curry version of your carrot/lentil/cauliflower soup from a few weeks ago.

That was AFTER I gave Averie’s a little almost too tweaked chocolate chip cookies with flax meal instead of oats.
    so
    dessert and than soup.

Hubs had chicken. that was it.

Oh yes, sorry, there’s a big ol’ beet in there for sure! Yeah, I don’t have carrots that magically turn red upon juicing ha! Carrots were just the one new item.

  • a sweet potato sandwich sounds intriguing….but i guess a no- no, non? maybe with some peanut butter?

  • Holly says:

hahahahaha i hate those days when you just feel like a huge weirdo! however, yours looks much more delicious than mine. too bad on the SP sammie…it sounds so good in theory!

  • I have to have a tea every night to squelch that feeling, or it would be chip city!

Alison, I hear ya sister! I feel like I’ve been in a weird ‘phase’ since I got back from my visit to see my family. I haven’t felt my normal chipper self, and I feel kinda tired. Could be the combination of the blues that I always get after I have to say goodbye to my mom plus the change of seasons. I’m just not ready to say bye to summer yet, and we’ve had pretty chilly days since my return to Colorado.

We can snap out of this! :) Hmmm maybe we just need to go out for a lunchtime run and get a shot of sunshine!

Your juice looks almost to pretty to drink!

I get in blah moods sometimes. Just let it rind it’s coarse…. it will fade and you will feel as fresh as daises soon! 😀
