I’ve got a meeting tonight and will be home late, so today’s post is going to be wrapped up into a nice little bite of afternoon delight.
I woke up too early this morning. So early that I went back to bed at 5:30 hoping to fall back to sleep but it didn’t happen, so my day officially started somewhere in the 4 o’clock hour. I waited for the sun to come up and then hopped on my bike for a 34 minute therapy session. My mind turns as fast as my wheels when I’m on the bike. No iPod – it’s just me and the road. Well, just me minus the hundreds other people in their cars. Details.
I came home to make the fastest breakfast of all time.
The best thing about this breakfast? The clean up.
No, no. Let me do the dishes. Please! It would be my pleasure.
While my wheels and mind were turning this morning I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going steer this ship of a blog in a different direction for a little while. I submitted my request for more hours to be added to the day but until that’s approved I’m going to play around a bit with content and frequency.
Content will probably fall into one of seven categories: Food. Running. Health. Food. Motherhood. Craziness. Food. But not every meal and snack, and probably just once a day now too. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to just forge ahead with my new plan or write it out loud. I chose the latter.
Hi my name is Alison and I like to state the obvious.
So as I mentioned, I have a meeting tonight, and a few people (consider me one of those few people) offered to bring a snack. I didn’t know what I was going to bring until the perfect banana bread recipe from Granny Everythingtarian practically fell into my lap.
I had a little help with the mixing.
I left out Holly’s additions of nuts and chocolate chips to make sure it’s nut-allergy friendly, given I’ll be serving this to other people. Other wise I totally would have nutted and chocolate-d this up! With the exception of a little whole wheat flour (the last of it – 3/4 c) I followed the original recipe.
Ready for the oven!
Since I was already making a mess in the kitchen, I figured what’s one more mess among messes and whipped up some sun dried tomato hummus while the kitchen filled with the scent of warm banana goodness.
Or as Zak calls it, The Good Hummus.
My loaf took close to 50 minutes to bake before the toothpick was coming out clean. Love the banana slices on top, I’ve never done that before but I think it makes it look so pretty!
Sliced up and packed!
Uh oh. One piece didn’t fit. What on earth shall I do with it? *wink wink*
Afternoon delight is right! Wait, what do you mean that’s not what “afternoon delight” means?
Oh Mama! I like ze naner bread. I like a lot.
Heyyyyyy there!
I hear ya on the not enough time in the day. Gotta be a happy medium…lol

I think Fall brought with it more to do…and I see it’s affecting the masses. Of course blog o ville is the first to take the hit! of course!
kids need to eat, mom’s need to work, Blogs gotta shift.
it’s all good
I’m off to go knit me a pancreas or perhaps some ovaries!
I think less eats and more mama craziness is PERFECT.
unless of course you have anymore main dish inspiration for me to tweak!
xoxoxo
It’s really annoying when you are logged in to your own blog and you go blog reading and you post a comment and it shifts you to the linkless name….or some blogs tell you to log out and the next one won’t take your comment unless you are logged in
make up your minds already!
last comment was just me, being ME
your nanner bread looks DIVINE…make Granny Everythingatarian proud.
I saw that on Holly’s page too and can’t wait to make it, looks so good!
I need to make some hummus to because I just moved to Iowa where the only one you can buy at the grocery store is $6! Crazy!
What?? You mean you didn’t throw that extra piece away? You didn’t eat it, did you?
Looks DELICIOUS! I’ve never made it with banana slices on top either.
I made Holly’s banana bread too! Well, but I made some changes as I didn’t have enough bananas (only had 3), but it still turned out really good!

Yummy looking bread! I love the banana slices on top.
Weee for banana bread. It’s my go-to running fuel. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. Yours look especially delicious! Nom nom. I also did the banana-slices-on-top on the last one I made. It makes the bread 10x better since the added sweetness serves as “frosting” methinks. ๐
Love the naners on top! What a great idea. I really think my mind is like a minute behind yours because I’m waiting for bananas to ripe so I can make vegan chocolate chip banana bread tomorrow for work.
that banana bread looks so cool with the fruit on top like that! I have some overripe bananas on the counter right now. I will look into the recipe …
The sliced ‘nanas are so pretty on top. I don’t know why I have never added them that way. Next time…
oh yeah those sliced bananas on top are really pretty!!!
That bread looks so delicious! I may have to add that to my “to make” list when I have to bring a snack somewhere. Otherwise, if I made it with no place to go, I’d probably eat the whole thing! :/
I’m making this bread tonight!
“No, no. Let me do the dishes. Please! It would be my pleasure.”
You are too generous!!! Ha!!
Also, please let me know if the request for more hours in the day goes through.
I’m not posting my meals every day either. It’s just too much. I totally understand…. but I still love hearing about your daily adventures and your kids and life. Also, I can’t WAIT to hear about your run! Good luck if I don’t get to comment tomorrow!!! ๐
