The Juice Gods Are Smiling At Me

July 14th, 2009 | Posted by Alison in Breakfast

Check out this email I that was waiting for me from Zak’s Aunt Ellen when I got home from my bike ride this morning!

Funny you should mention a juicer. The other day I was thinking that you might like my Dad’s juicer that has been looking for a new home, after having sat on my basement shelf for some time now. It is an ACME Supreme Juicerator Model 5001. My Dad was definitely ahead of his time as he was using flax seed oil, some raw foods and other nutritional ideas back in the day. You are welcome to try it out and see if it meets your needs. If it meets your needs you may keep it. If it doesn’t, you may still keep it!

Thank you Ellen!

Blessed by the juice gods, it was time for some new NOT cantaloupe orange fleshed melon before my bike ride.

No, it’s NOT cantaloupe (ZAK!) NO someone did NOT trick me at the grocery store (ZAK!) and NO it does not taste just like cantaloupe. (ZAK!)

It sort of tastes like honey? Honeydew maybe? CANTALOUPE is different I tell ya!

My ride was glorious a 12 miles in 50 minutes. I’ve learned to savor and soak up every moment of summer morning glory because before we know it it’s going to be dark and cold in the mornings and I’ll be shoveling myself out of bed and slithering to the bathroom instead of doing a back handspring from the mattress directly into my sneakers and running out the door before I’ve wiped the crusties from my eyes.

I decided last night that I was willing to risk a little improper food combining and went with a breakfast cookie this morning. It’s been a LONG time my friend! Too long!

I’ve found that I prefer mine with more moist and mushy. The original calls for less milk so don’t be afraid to play around with the ingredients until you get it right. I’ll also say that I didn’t fall in love with these until after I’d made a few of them, so if you don’t get it right the first time, I vote to TRY, TRY AGAIN!

About a 1/2 cup of oats with 1/2 mashed banana and a scoop of almond butter, ground flax, a few sliced almonds and a generous splash of almond milk all swirled together and flattened onto a plate to become breakfast cookie goodness overnight.

Topped this morning with strawberries and bananas.

I’m curious to see what the Food Combining Gods to do me today…
