Tonight I thought about sharing one of the best ways to re-heat pizza.
Or growing my own wheat grass.
But instead I decided to post about Caitlin’s totally inspiring, sweet idea over at A Healthy Tipping Point.
She calls it Operation Beautiful and it’s catching on. She’s been leaving post it notes in restrooms, elevators and other public places for other people, other women, to see.
After reading some of the great notes women were leaving for themselves, their friends, coworkers, strangers, I was motivated to grab a pad of post its and a sharpie as we headed out the door for the library this afternoon.
I left two notes.
One on the mirror of the bathroom of the children’s restroom, up high for all the mama’s in there to see!
I know I’ve looked in that mirror more than once and silently criticized myself.
You need to exercise more.
You need to eat less.
You need to stop returning library books late.
I thought of another spot in the library I’ve stood and felt less than great about myself too.
In front of the stacks in the Health section.
Today I looked through the book shelves and picked out one of my favorite books, Fit From Within. I flipped through until I found an appropriate chapter and left a note for the next person to find.
As I was writing my note, Ava watched and asked what it said.
I told her, “It says, ‘You are beautiful'”
“Who’s beautiful?”
“You are!”
At least I’m sure I spread the message that you are beautiful to one girl today. Maybe even two. 😉
And oh yeah, re-heating pizza in a covered frying pan is the best. On low, for about 5 – 7 minutes.
I love how you left that note on that particular chapter! That is totally going to make someone’s day. Or at least, it would make mine — I’d be blown away. Because I’m like that.
That’s how my momma used to reheat pizza for me when I was a kid – of course, I thought she was crazy at the time….everything she did seemed that way.
I would be so happy to find those notes at the public library! Or to find some hand sanitizer. Or both.
You’re so sweet (with the note and all), you’ve come a long beautiful way since you were the baby who was mine.
I love that conversation with your daughter…that’s what its all about.
(p.s. Love that idea to reheat pizza too!! I always microwave mine but it comes out goopy and soft…need to try this next time!
I love the note in the book. I would feel so good if I was reading that book and found it.
I would love to know who reads the note in the book and how THEY felt about it. Cute idea…Off to have my morning oats. Have a great trip this weekend.
I love the idea of leaving positive notes for other women to find! And what positive messages for your daughters!
